A Note from Sher
When COVID forced everyone indoors, my workload became so heavy, and I desperately needed help. Fortunately for me (though not so fortunate for Jori! ), Jori was flat on her back recovering from surgery on her ACL, and in that time, she agreed to help me with all the admin support, resourcing, and whatever she could do from the sofa!
One of my projects underway during that time was a kitchen and bath remodel for a dear client in San Clemente. After my client’s beloved husband passed, she was ready to remodel her primary bathroom and had a sole request that it feature a stained glass window as the centerpiece.
Jori is deeply concept-driven in how she develops her work, so she instinctively approached the stained glass request not as a decorative commission, but proposed a composition rooted in imagery that would celebrate the rich life our client shared with her late husband.
Through this process of designing the bathroom, we discovered that the stained glass and the design of the room itself naturally evolved together—each decision in the space responding to and amplifying the other. This design journey, infused with art, memory, and emotional storytelling is when we caught our first glimpse of a much bigger vision that has since grown into a complete redefinition of SKJ Interiors!
About Sher
Design has always been about more than aesthetics for me—it’s about how spaces shape our experiences. Growing up in South Africa, I was surrounded by vivid color and hand-crafted textiles, traditions that still inspire my love for creating rooms with soul. Travels through Europe, South America, and Asia later expanded my perspective, deepening my appreciation for distinguishing features that give longevity and character to any space.
Before originally founding SKJ Interiors, I built a career in graphic design and art direction after earning my Art degree in Chicago. That chapter sharpened my eye for originality and taught me to chase ideas that are anything but mainstream. For over 13 years, I’ve been designing homes as well as commercial spaces centered on wellness and relationships. That work has shown me how much design can truly transform the way people live, gather, and connect.
I believe every home should tell a story that feels personal and true. I’m drawn to bold statements, rich textures, and crafted details that celebrate individuality. Most importantly, I see the design journey as collaborative—a chance to guide, inspire, and create spaces that feel authentically you.

About Jori
I’m an artist first. That lens has shaped everything I do—from the way I approach design, to how I understand people, and how I translate ideas into form. With over 15 years of honing my practice, I’ve developed a multidisciplinary approach that’s process-driven— rooted conceptually and evolves intuitively.
My work is grounded in the belief that art and design are powerful tools for relational connection, personal alignment, and even healing. What surprised me early in my career, though, was how deeply my years in luxury hospitality—curating personalized, meaningful experiences as a concierge—fed that same creative process. I learned how to listen closely, pick up on subtle cues, and curate novel experiences that made people feel known.
Today, it shows up in how I serve our clients. I see each project as a collaboration, a conversation, and a creative experience rooted in trust. This same intuition and attention to detail now allows me to design homes guided by functional needs, but be brought to life in highly tailored ways that resonate deeply with our clients— infused with a daily source of rest, inspiration, joy, and reminders of what truly matters to them.
